Mining company CleanSpark has begun construction of the second phase of its data centre in Washington, D.C. (Georgia, USA). The capacity of the previously acquired facility will increase by 50 MW.

In August 2022, CleanSpark bought an operating bitcoin mining facility from WAHA Technologies for $16.2 million. The facility had a capacity of 36MW, with the potential to expand to 50MW.

The company expects to deploy a fleet of ASIC miner models Antminer S19j Pro and Antminer S19 XP of the latest generation as part of the expansion. Depending on the ratio of device types, the increase in hash rate will be 1.6-2.2 EH/s, which is 25-34% higher than the current 6.5 EH/s.

CleanSpark plans to spend $16 million on the construction and place up to 16,000 additional miners at the site.

Throughout 2022, the company, as part of its bear-market expansion policy, has made a number of purchases - both of data centres and batches of state-of-the-art bitcoin mining equipment.
