Britain's shrinking real incomes are beginning to affect the purchasing power of much of the country

43% of those who pay their energy bills say they will face problems because of rising costs. The same proportion said they won't be able to make savings over the next year as a result of the jump in bills.

Nearly a quarter of adults, 23%, said they had difficulty paying their regular household bills last month, up from 17% in November.

Of those who pay a mortgage, 30% said they were having a hard time afford housing costs, and 3% said they were behind on their payments.
