Consumer confidence in the UK has fallen below 2008 levels - Bloomberg

The reason is the rising cost of electricity and food.

Electricity accounts for about 12 percent of household spending in Britain. And food prices have jumped because of higher fertilizer and energy costs.

At the same time, business and manufacturing activity indices are falling sharply in Britain.
