€64 Million EU Investment Sparks Transformative Projects in Larnaca

Larnaca, a city on the rise, is seeing a wave of change with the substantial injection of EU funds earmarked for local development projects. Part of the EU Thalia 2021-2027 initiative, this €64 million investment is poised to significantly improve the lives of the city’s residents through several transformative projects.

Revitalizing the Municipal Infrastructure

The Thalia program, spanning seven years with an overall budget of €1.8 billion, of which €969 million is contributed by the EU, aims to revolutionize infrastructure across Cyprus. In Larnaca alone, more than 20 projects are underway, boasting a collective budget of approximately €220 million. These endeavors are designed to not just uplift, but entirely reshape the community’s daily experience.

The Green Leap in Education

One of the standout projects is the drafting of a €39 million technical school in Aradippou, aimed at fostering green professions. Expected to be completed by January 2028, the school will provide cutting-edge education in sustainable practices, addressing a critical gap in Cyprus’s secondary technical education.

Parks and Public Spaces Rejuvenated

Larnaca will also witness a resurgence in its public spaces with significant projects like the redevelopment of Pattihio Park, budgeted at €6.6 million. The park will be transformed with new trees, a botanical garden, entertainment zones, and more, slated for completion by December. Another exciting development is the creation of a multifunctional park in Tsiakkilero for €2.3 million, catering to community recreation and wellness.

Modernizing Urban Living

The Urban Center’s streets and squares will see an €11.4 million overhaul, with enhancements in road quality, lighting, and public amenities. Mayor Andreas Vyras underlined the transformative impact of these projects, emphasizing their role in forging a dynamic future for Larnaca.

Caring for the Community

In December, the community will welcome a state-of-the-art Municipal Nursing Home at a cost of €6 million, providing modern living facilities for the elderly, complete with medical and leisure amenities.

These initiatives reflect not just a financial investment but a commitment to building a sustainable, thriving future for Larnaca’s residents. As stated in Cyprus Mail, these projects are more than just construction; they are milestones in the pursuit of a brighter, greener future.
