Abdullah Yameen was president of the Maldives from 2013-2018. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison and a $5 million fine.

The court found that Yameen deposited money received from the lease of Aar Island into his personal account and laundered the funds.

He also received a $1 million bribe from former deputy Yusuf Naeem.
