From Classroom to Colombia: Dr. Elimarys Perez-Colon's Mission

The mission, steered by the International Health Service Collaborative (IHSC), unraveled in April as Dr. Perez-Colon and her multidisciplinary team touched down in Medellin. Divided among 21 students and six faculty members from USF Health, they partnered with Universidad CES to extend vital health services to underserved communities.

“This not only presented a chance to render necessary medical services, but it mirrored a vibrant learning canvas for our students,” Dr. Perez-Colon remarked. The array of services offered included internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, dermatology, and optometry. More than 450 individuals embraced pharmacy services, glucose testing, and health education workshops—paving the pathway towards sustainable health practices.
