Schroeder came to Moscow - according to him, on vacation, and his wife told Spiegel that for energy talks. Schroeder chaired Rosneft's board of directors, but left it after the start of the SWO.

He was recently stripped of the privileges of the former head of government: left without an office and staff paid from the budget - because of his ties to Russia.

"As far as we know, he [Schroeder] is indeed in Moscow. There is no meeting as such, but we do not rule out contacts," Peskov said. Details remain unknown for now.
